I purchased this radio August, 2021 as my first HF transceiver. I bought it from Radioddity in a bundled deal that included all accessories at a discount price. Description:
The G90 is the first model of the new Xiegu G-series. It's a portable 20W HF 10-160 mtr. multimode transceiver. The G90 uses 24-bit digital architecture. It also includes an internal automatic antenna tuner. The G90 has excellent transmit and receive performance. It packs huge performance into a small portable package. The G90 has a removable display head that can be separated from the main body and connected via a DB-9 cable (provided with the radio). Both the radio's control head firmware and main body operating firmware can be user-updated using separate connectors on the head and body. The programming cable is provided.
My bundle came with CE-19 connector interface, to hook up the radio to your PC or to connect it to a companion lineal amplifier which can boost its power to nearly 100 watts. The stand includes an outboard cooling fan. I have used the CE-19 interface and it works well, but I had to select Icom-7000 as the destination radio, which the G90 mimics in its firmware.
Xiegu XPA125B is a small and lightweight 100 watt HF solid state linear power amplifier perfect for your QRP radio or low power SDR transceiver. It has a built in automatic antenna tuner, automatic protection circuits and a big and bright display for monitoring the amplifier status.
The XPA125B has a variety of intelligent protection circuits to ensure the safety of the amplifier and connected transceiver. XPA125B also has automatic band selection via the accessory connection directly compatible with the G90 portable radio.
My set up includes the outboard cooling fan but it also sits on an iPad stand which raises up the front even more. Its connected to my modified Carolina Windom antenna which allows me to get on the air on four bands. The built in antenna tuner gets me on at least two additional bands. See Page 7, NVIS Antenna
